The difference between e.g. and i.e.

People often get e.g. and i.e. confused. Here’s an easy way to remember which means what:

e.g. = Example. e.g. is used to mean “for example”. e.g. begins with E.

i.e. = In other words. i.e. is used to mean “in other words”. i.e. begins with I.
